Key Takeaways from Figma Config Nairobi 2025

As we wrap up the year, it is important to look back at the moments that defined our journey. One of the biggest highlights for TuConnect in 2025 was the Figma Config Watch Party, held on May 9 at the Microsoft ADC in Nairobi.

It was not just an event; it was a gathering of the brightest minds in African tech. For our team, it marked a significant milestone: our Co-founder and Tech Lead, Collins Oduor, took the stage as a featured panelist.

A Voice for Developers

Looking back, the panel discussion was a pivotal moment. Collins joined other industry leaders, including Ian Nyongesa and Brian Ngaria, to discuss the intersection of design and development.

He shared how TuConnect approached product building. He emphasized that for us, design was never an afterthought, it was the foundation of how we connected talent to opportunity.

The Energy in the Room

The atmosphere at Microsoft ADC was electric that evening. We watched the global keynote, but the real value came from the local conversations. We connected with designers who were building incredible solutions for the continent.

It was clear to us then, as it is now, that Nairobi is a global tech hub. The questions from the audience demonstrated a deep technical maturity that rivaled any Silicon Valley event.

Our Takeaway

Reflecting on that day, we walked away with one major lesson: Collaboration is the future. The tools we celebrated at Config were designed to break down silos, and that vision aligns perfectly with TuConnect's mission.

We left the event inspired to build better tools for our users. That inspiration has fueled every update we have released since.
